“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” Hamlet Act II, Scene 2
The patterns in which we are all being actively encourage to engage with are dark and negative and destructive. Our news media, our social media, our places of worship, our schools, our gatherings have all been poisoned and oriented toward a cultural suicide. We each have to realize that we have all, without exception, been infected and what is being stolen from us, in the process, is our very fine, sweet, all to brief time here. Time is the real commodity and thing of incalculable value because it is finite. These forces that encourage us to piss it away and turn our lives into something of a dread are something that we must either contend with or succumb to.
The only way to contend with these forces is to reengage with our sense of joy, those we love, and to each find our peace and share it with the next person. We should laugh a lot more and connect in that laughter, and also in music, stories, and images. In turn, make must make those expressions about connection rather than division. We should work to create a better experience for ourselves and for each other. The true secrets of life aren’t found in things but in experiences …at least that’s been MY experience and the only thing I can really bear witness to.
We have to reclaim our head space for the things that we enjoy and evict the “nattering nabobs of negativism” who charge us to live there. We need to remind ourselves and each other of why we’re all really here. We have to willingly reject the shit show, y’all …like quitting smoking (which I ultimately did but just not lighting another cigarette. That was simple but not easy, and The Work that we face is the same.)
Everyone here alive right now is a family brought together by the experience of being alive. This planet is our home and we probably would do much better if we all acted from that basis.
Oh yeah, don’t forget:
“These are some messed up monkeys.”
